Minty Badger

Captain

His face is etched with battle scars, his demeanour is ageless. Born of nature, the land, and the sea – embodying the untamed spirit of all three. Old as time yet fresh as the morning dew.

A mercurial soul who thrives on the fringes of society. He’s as charming as he is unpredictable, with eyes that hint at a man who should never be fully trusted…

The Pusser

Quartermaster

An old man with a sharp edge. Frustrated, pedantic, angry. Spends his life with his head sticking out of his ship’s store like a gargoyle, keeping a stern eye on his precious supplies.

Formerly a landlord in Polperro. Notorious for his home brewed salt fish wine – an unwelcomed aphrodisiac aboard which can slacken even the tightest of ships. beautiful soul who, by accident of fate, was tempted aboard by his deep love of Fanny’s cooking.

Annan Koffee

First Mate

The Renaissance man of the ship. Mathematician, astronomer, polyglot and philosopher. The only person aboard who can understand every word spoken by the crew. He’s the human glue, resin, rivets, and nails that holds the ship together.

A brilliant and beautiful soul who, by accident of fate, was tempted aboard by his deep love of Fanny’s cooking.

Ron Weigh

Navigator

The ship’s dreamer – has his head in the stars and his heart firmly rooted in the Pusser’s rum store.

He navigates by instinct, trusting the feel of the wind in his ears and the tilt of the ship’s wheel. His once-reliable sense of direction took a hit when a musket shot lodged in his skull. Now his power’s to detect true North is off by a wobbly 14 degrees…

The Jolly Bodger

Ship’s Surgeon and Carpenter

Was once a skilled cabinet maker in Dorset before he was press-ganged into navy before jumping ship the Antilles. He was caught making a wooden leg out of the Admiral’s trophy cabinet.

Handy with a tenon saw, his training as a carpenter has designated him the role of ship’s surgeon. His troubled eyes betray the curdled screams and blood- soaked sawdust of the surgeon’s table.

Deaf Geoff

Master Gunner

Born and raised in Edinburgh. A seasoned shanty singer, he spent countless nights leading choruses in inns across Scotland belting out tunes so loudly that his hearing is shot.

His ability to boom orders in time with the screams of the crew and the blunderous bass of the cannons makes him the ideal Master Gunner. Although he is known for his short fuse…

Fanny Haddock

Ship’s Cook

The one true heart of the ship – beloved by the whole crew for her daring use of spices and ample portions. Known for using language that could make Captain Minty blush.

Once called Babette, she was an esteemed cook for the Queen of Sweden (may she rest in peace), an unfortunate poisoning incident means she now travels the high seas.

Maya La Luna

Bosun

The Bosun moves effortlessly between the crew to ensure order and harmony aboard the ship. Her duties include setting sails, hoisting the colours, and maintaining the rigging.

Hailing from Nueva España. She can be as warm as the sun but is guided by the moon – her waters pulled by the tides. Her moods ebb and flow between spring and neap.

Sooty

Powder Monkey

A former chimney sweep, he spent his youth covered in soot, scaling the chimneys of London’s gentry. Dreaming of a cleaner life, he stole away to sea at the age of 12. By cruel fate he found himself toiling amidst the grime and dust of the gunnery.

Constantly covered in a fine layer of gunpowder, he cannot be trusted around open flames.

Flint Knapper

Striker

Born out of the soil of Norfolk, hewn from the wild wastes. His early years were spent hunting and mining, digging deep into the earth for its rocky treasures. His life’s goal is to fashion a flint so fine it could tattoo the salty skin of a sea nymph.

Skilled with a blade and an excellent marksman – its rumoured he can snuff out a candle with a shot from 30 paces.

Billy Bones

Thief – Thrown Overboard

A former crew member and pearl diver, he claimed he had to cut his leg off when it was caught in a giant clam. In fact, he had developed gangrenous gout and it was chopped off in Bristol.

A notoriously untrustworthy smooth-talker. He was thrown foot-first off the ship for attempting to swindle his crew-mates. Captain Minty kept his wooden leg as a trophy.

Dexter

Legendary Pirate Captain

A mysterious pirate – long fabled to be the fiercest in all the seas.

Though he is known for his odd habits of sniffing at his crew-mates and chasing his own tail.
